This 2-hour AB 392 Use of Force Update will provide a clear understanding of changes to PC 196 and 835a, as well as the impact of interacting with people with disabilities and use of force considerations. This 80 hour course is designed to provide investigators of high technology and/or computer crimes with training on tools and procedures for conducting difficult and detailed forensic examinations of personal computers and seized digital media. Students will also learn how to build their own forensic analysis computer, troubleshoot and repair problems with their computers, become familiar with advanced capabilities of tools available to the forensic analyst. The course consists of lecture, hands on classroom exercises and 70 to 75 hours of lab work.

RIPA requires all city and county law enforcement agencies (LEAs) in California, as well as the California Highway Patrol and peace officers of California State and university educational institutions, to collect perceived demographic and other detailed data regarding pedestrian and traffic stops.

The course provides an overview of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) stranger abduction investigations best practice, guidelines, strategies, and resources. It provides students with an introduction to the FBI Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team, Behavioral Analysis Units, and Cellular Analysis Survey Team. It will highlight services from the California Department of Justice Missing and Unidentified Persons Section and cover frequently asked questions pertaining to the National Crime Information Center. The course offers high-level human trafficking investigative tips as they pertain to abduction and runaways. It will also cover training resources, how to utilize the media, and “lessons learned” case studies from law enforcement and victim perspectives.
