RADAR OPERATOR 
The purpose of this course is to provide training on the technical use of electronic speed measuring devices using radar for speed and distance measuring.
Students will learn the history and theory of radar, examine the technical use of radar and its place in law enforcement, review the legal use of radar and its importance in court, learn to recognize the components of stationary and moving radar systems, study the characteristics and functions of radar components, evaluate the effects of radar use
and learn the techniques for verification of the calibration of the radar device.

This course is designed to provide training on the legal and technical use of electronic speed measuring devices using Light Amplification of Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER) for speed and distance measuring, also referred to as Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR). The course gives an overview of the characteristics and functions of LASER components as well as the effects of LASER use. It also includes techniques for the verification of the calibration of the LASER device.

This course is designed to familiarize officers with the patrol rifle. Trainees will learn and demonstrate proficiency with the rifle on the range. Trainees will also become familiar with legal requirements and department policies regarding deployment and use of the patrol rifle. Successful completion of this course satisfies the legislative training mandate to possess rifles as specified in Penal Code section 33220(b) and the Commission training requirement to possess long barrel rifles as specified in Commission Regulation 1081. This course provides updated legislative content of Penal Code Section 835a.

Part of the course will be related to identifying illegally modified vehicles and another portion with directly relate to the identifying the car clubs that are doing the illegal street racing, and how they communicate using social media.
