THIS COURSE MEETS THE POST TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR ARREST AND CONTROL INSTRUCTOR IN REGULATION 1082 AND FOR INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS FOR COURSES PURSUANT TO REGULATION 1070 FOR ARREST AND CONTROL COURSES. The trainee will develop the necessary tactical knowledge and skills to safely and effectively arrest and control a suspect. The course consists of hands-on/practical skills arrest and control training for in-service officers. The training may also be presented in a variable format (4 or 8 hours) allowing for flexibility based upon specific agency or trainee group needs, and as long as the minimum topics are contained within each format independently. Optional topics/exercises include Impact Weapons, Weapon Retention and Take-Aways. This course provides updated legislative content of Penal Code Section 835a.
