This 904 hour course is certified by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and it meets the statutory basic training requirements for California Peace Officers. The course follows the instructional framework, minimum hour and content requirements established by POST. The course meets requirements for employed peace officer students, however is open to those students who meet and satisfy entry requirements including written examination, physical fitness examination, DOJ fingerprint clearance and medical clearance. This course requires significant time commitments and outside course work including uniform preparation, homework assignments and equipment maintenance.

This specialized course of instruction provides California school peace officers, as defined in Penal Code section 830.32, with training designed to meet the unique safety needs of a school environment. This course is intended to supplement any other training requirements.
This course satisfies the requirements of California Penal Code section 832.3(h) which requires any school peace officer first employed by a K-12 public school district or California Community College district before July 1, 1999, to successfully complete the specialized course of training no later than July 1, 2002. It further requires any school peace officer first employed by a K-12 public school district or California Community College district after July 1, 1999, to successfully complete the specialized course of training within two years of the date of first employment. This course also satisfies the minimum standards for legislatively mandated courses requirement established by 11 CCR § 1081.

Designed for experienced detectives, this scenario based training course will focus on critical incidents, including: officer-involved shootings; use of force incidents; and in- custody deaths. Participants will be assigned to an investigative team, respond to a different use of force incident scene, and conduct an investigation into the scenario incident. Investigation techniques will include crime scene management and documentation, conducting interviews, and evidence collection. This 904 hour course is certified by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and it meets the statutory basic training requirements for California Peace Officers. This course provides valuable skills for all instructors of California law enforcement including, in-service and public safety dispatch training. Students will gain facilitation skills and an understanding of how to employ adult learning methodologies appropriate for various law enforcement topics. This course meets the basic instructional skills training requirement to teach in the POST Regular Basic Course and for the Academy Instructor Certificate Program. Designed for experienced detectives, this scenario based training course will focus on critical incidents, including: officer-involved shootings; use of force incidents; and in- custody deaths. Participants will be assigned to an investigative team, respond to a different use of force incident scene, and conduct an investigation into the scenario incident. A participant presentation to a panel of experts will culminate this training.

This 904 hour course is certified by the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) and it meets the statutory basic training requirements for California Peace Officers. This course satisfies the requirements of California Penal Code section 832.3(h) which requires any school peace officer first employed by a K-12 public school district or California Community College district before July 1, 1999, to successfully complete the specialized course of training no later than July 1, 2002. This course will provide the student with the knowledge and skills to: identify signs and symptoms of mental illness, assess and manage an individual’s risk for suicide and distinguish the fundamental difference between a suicide and “Suicide by Cop.” This training examines officer safety and tactical considerations to improve the effectiveness of field contacts with mentally ill persons and others in crisis, to understand the importance of first responder self-care and examine PTSD. In addition, this course will provide the attendee with the minimum topics and training of Strategic Communications required in the POST Perishable Skills Training Program.
