This training specifically addresses the issues arising from officers who are unfamiliar with the LGBTQ community and also who have not read the OCOP Notice from 2012, which specifically outlines law enforcement interactions with the Trans-gender community. This training addresses matters of implicit bias towards the LGBTQ community, fairness in policing, and understanding what the current policies and procedures are related to the LGBTQ community. This training historically had been given as corrective training to officers, who were found to have engaged in biased policing towards the LGBTQ community or discourtesy. This training is an effort to take a proactive stance in ensuring that officers can better serve the LGBTQ by having a better understanding of our policies and procedures related to law enforcement interaction with the LGBTQ community.
