TACTICAL SEARCHING WITH K9 
This course provides instruction on suspect trends, searching for a concealed suspect with maximum officer safety, working within a K9 team element, case law, perimeter control, and how dogs utilize the scent cone to locate a hidden suspect. This course also instructs K9 handlers on proper de-escalation techniques to use on K9 radio calls. The training includes a 2 hour powerpoint, at the conclusion of the powerpoint teams will apply the knowledge they learned in scenario based training. K9 teams must understand being fiscally safe as well as physically safe to assure success in the field. De-escalation training is needed in all aspects of training and must be implemented throughout an officers career. This course is one of a kind as K9 handlers will be provided updates on current K9 case law, as well as practical application assuring the teams will be better prepared for the field. This course provides updated legislative content of penal code Section 835a.

It will also emphasize pre-deployment planning strategies involving tactical arrest teams, containment teams, entry team assignments, barricaded vehicle operations, hostage rescue operations, and high-risk area search missions.
