Designed to equip instructors to deliver training on a variety of arrest and control techniques (ACT)methods. Instruction focuses upon the training related to prevailing use of force law, methods of instruction (Train the Trainer), law enforcement defensive concepts, civil liability considerations, footwork and balance, and safety management during training. It includes details regarding Use of Force: specifically, Case Law and updated legislature on content of Penal Code Section 835a. Attendees will also learn a variety of specific arrest and control methods including cursory searches, standing searches, prone searches, control holds, handcuffing techniques and take down methods. The class includes a 4-hour lecture. In addition, a written exam, a physical performance test and teaching assignment will be administered on the last day of class. Those who successfully pass will be certified to teach POST certified Arrest and Control courses per 11CCR 1070
