This class will address the fundamentals of collision investigations. Topics covered include a review of the Collision Investigation Manual and the CHP 555 Collision Reporting forms. Factual diagramming techniques using the station line method will be explained and applied in a field exercise. A brief introduction to calculating speeds from tire marks and data stored in a vehicle’s airbag module, that may assist in collision investigations will be discussed. This course is a hands-on learning experience with the opportunity to practice what you've learned. It is recommended for anyone in law enforcement that investigates traffic collisions.
